2009 Melges 32 Gold Cup : Lauderdale Yacht Club was again proud to host the 2009 Melges 32 Gold Cup regatta to start the South Florida racing season off with a fleet of the world's strongest sailors aboard these rocket ships on the Atlantic Ocean. The 23 boats sailed in a variety of conditions ranging from calm and flat seas to huge gusts (increasing wind velocity 15 knots with little or no notice at times) and topping out at just under 25 knots over this long 3 day event. The yachtsmen completed sailing with a Heineken and awards at the Baha Del Mar Marina on Sunday. Most of these boats will be head-to-head again at Key West Race Week in Key West, Florida in January.

2010 Rolex Miami OCR : 2012 Olympic sailing hopefuls from over 43 countries have gathered in Miami, Florida to compete in the 2010 Rolex Miami Olympic Class Regatta hosted by the Coral Reef Yacht Club. This competition is the second of the six event ISAF World Cup championship series which is being sailed by these sailors around the world to vie for he worldwide champion sailor title for 2010. 2010 CORK International Regatta : What an awesome week of sailing that the staff and voulenteers at CORK provided for the 2010 CORK International Regatta in Kingston, Ontario Canada. With sailors representing Optimist, Byte, Open Bic, Laser, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7, 420, 29er and Byte CII classes, all sailors were provided the opportunity to demonstrate their skill and performance in winds ranging from 8 - 32 knots of breeze throughout this amazing week of sailing in Canada!

2010 USODA Team Trials : Each year the Opti class in the US (USODA) holds an invitational regatta to select the US National Opti Team to represent the United States at regattas around the world. In 2010, the regatta was hosted by the Texas Corinthian Yacht Club in Kemah, TX and proved to be an exciting event full of wind, waves and action. 2010 420 Midwinters at US Sailing Center : Where do sailors go in the middle of the winter? They head South to a perfect little known spot on the Atlantic Ocean called Jensen Beach and specifically to the US Sailing Center in Martin County, Florida. Top Club 420 sailors from around North America gathered in this perfect location to compete in the 2010 C420 Midwinter Championship regatta. In three days of sailing, the race committee delivered everything from 25 knots down to 0 on the race course giving the competitors every opportunity to demonstrate their ability to fight the elements and climb to the top of this competitive youth, high school, collegiate and adult class.

2010 St. Pete Valentine's Regatta : The United Stated Dinghy Association held their final qualifying regatta for the 2010 US National Team Trials regatta at the St. Pete Yacht Club's Valentines regatta the first weekend of February 2010. The cold Tampa air provided with epic conditions as nearly 250 competitive sailors between the age of 8 and 15 hit the Florida waters to compete for the title of St. Petersburg champion. With racing conditions ranging in wind speed from 15 - 38 knots and temps from 51-67 degrees, these youth sailors proved their metal as they challenged their abilities, strength and endurance through this awesome sailboat race that will surely be talked about for years to come!

2009 Orange Bowl Regatta at CRYC : In December of 2009 more than 750 sailors gathered in the small Miami, Florida community of Coconut Grove to compete in the US Sailing Junior Olympic Sailing regatta hosted by Coral Reef Yacht Club and sailed out of the Miami US Sailing Center and Biscane Bay Yacht Clubs. The sailors enjoyed challenging Winter sailing in the tropical setting off of CRYC as the international sailors competed for the Orange Bowl regatta championship in Opti's 420's Lasers, Radials and 4.7's.

2009 Opti Midwinter Champs : The brand new clubhouse at Southern Yacht Club has been christined by the Opti fleet when USODA hosted their Midwinter Championship regatta in November 2009. The regatta, held over the Thanksgiving weekend provided chilly temperatures and winds ranging from 4 knots up to 13 over the course of the two days of racing. Many Optimist sailors enjoyed training in New Orleans for the week leading up to this sailing event.
